Re:
Miami-Jacobs Nursing Program Steady and Growing

Dear Miami-Jacobs Nursing Student,

With some recent media attention on the college, I want to take a moment to reassure you that the practical nursing program is operating in accordance with State of Ohio requirements and the improvements that Miami-Jacobs has been asked to make does not affect your academic diploma or your ability to sit for your NCLEX examination.

We have been working in partnership with the Ohio Board of Nursing over the past two years and are looking forward to our next site visit as early as this fall. All new programs begin with conditional approval and our conditional approval has been extended under an agreement between the board of nursing and the college.

Our goal is to provide the quality educational experience students need to obtain jobs and recent program improvements include expansion of clinical opportunities from 9 locations last September to 50 locations at this time. We are pleased to provide not only this practical experience, but also the opportunity for each of our students to reach out to employers and begin making valuable contacts that will aid in their placement after graduation.

Our new Director of the School of Nursing is overseeing the program, and I am confident that her leadership and years of experience will only enhance our learning environment. Michelle Seale, MBA, PhD, RN, joined Miami-Jacobs in January of this year. With a current enrollment of 408 students in our Dayton, Springboro and Troy campuses, the interest level in the program remains high. Additionally, the demand for nurses in the workplace is growing.

As with all of our graduates, we look forward to working with you to prepare for your exam upon graduation and to assist with placement opportunities. We have received confirmation that 5 graduates from the charter 2006 class have already taken and passed the examination.

Miami-Jacobs is a place where students can shine and improve their job readiness. I want to thank our students, employees and faculty for their dedication to make our community a better place and congratulate our students for their hard work and dedication to achieving the next level.

I appreciate the opportunity to serve each of you and look forward to seeing you on campus.

All the best,

Darlene Waite
